WHAT SIZE HOOP IS RIGHT FOR ME?

For beginners the bigger the diameter the better. A larger hoop rotates slower, giving you time to feel the rhythm and to move at the right time. Most beginners start with a larger sized hoop. I recommend using a hoop between 36- 45 inches diameter.  Hoops with grip tape also help (tape isn't just to make hoops pretty)! 


Tip: You can measure from the floor to your to your belly button (If you are taller, curvier or have a larger waist I would add a few inches).

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A HOOP CLASS?

Comfortable clothing (leggings or shorts, a vest top, t-shirt or crop top and trainers).

A bottle of water!

For online classes you will need access to Zoom.  Venue information will be provided for in person classes.

WHAT IS YOUR HOOP STORY? WHY ARE YOU ADDICTED? WHY DO YOU WANT TO TEACH?

In 2016 I decided I wanted a new hobby. I googled A-Z hobbies and when I came across Hula Hooping I remembered how I loved hooping as a kid. I found some tutorials online and I got that buzz from achieving them and have been hooked ever since!  I have been able to post my hoop journey on Instagram, I have won hoops from virtual competitions and I am now  sponsored by Utopia Artistry which allows me to give discounts on beautiful hoops and other flow products! During lock down I needed something to focus on, so I completed Jo Mondy's Live Love Hoop Teacher Training course as I wanted to share the physical and mental health benefits of hooping with others. I now teach hooping part time around my job. All this came from playing with a 'kids toy' at home!

What keeps you hooping? 

So many reasons! The feeling of accomplishment from learning tricks, flow state, improved confidence, fitness and mental wellbeing. I was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, movement from hooping is my pain relief.

WHY CAN'T I HULA HOOP ON MY WAIST?

Anyone can hula hoop!! It's all about having the right hoop for you and using the correct technique to keep the hoop going. Chances are you have tried to hoop with a kids hoop and have not got the correct posture. With the correct guidance and the correct hoop I guarantee you will be waist hooping in no time.
